Moving through the airport
When traveling through an airport some thing that a child can ride on can be great but, also get them out of easily.
Baby carriers I didn’t personally find that best as you need to take them off to go through security.
A travel pram is handy for them to sit or sleep in while at the airport, but also especially if they want to be carried because they are tired you can put all the luggage on the pram, but it is another item you have to collapse and and pack up.
Another option it to have a ride on suitcase. This is great as if it’s a small suitcase unlike a pram you don’t need to collapse or put back up again. But a child can’t sleep on a suitcase like they can in a pram.
Depending on how old your child is, shops can be a little challenging with new and exciting toys tempting them in to stores. It can be handy to leave some brand new toys hidden away to offer as a way to draw them away from expensive airport toys. This is a parenting choice how you want to deal with situations like that this is just a suggestion in case you need to leave to rush to get on your plane.
Harnesses can keep kids close in busy places. Some even come with backpacks which they can fill with their favorite toys.
Food & Drinks
When travelling with a child most airlines will let you take water and milk powder for children but double check first with the airline.
I’ve included in the list Boon bottles which I’ve found to be the best at not leaking which obviously is important when flying!
While on the Plane
If you have a heavy wetter having something to protect the seats from any nappy leaks can be handy. Disposable changing mat covers are lightweight and can cover a seat. One to protect the seat for hygiene reasons but also you can replace and make sure your child isn’t sitting on a wet seat. They are also handy if any liquids or food gets dropped as again can be swapped out to keep the seat clean.
When I’ve travelled long haul the airlines didn’t mind taking a drinking bottle with straw for my child too. Try to find ones that have an antileak feature.
When I’ve travelled my feet tend to swell a little which means it’s more comfortable to wear thick socks or slippers than shoes. I did the same for my child, either having spare thick socks to go over other socks or pull on slippers.
For take of and landing children can’t really pop their ears if the pressure builds up so chewing a dummy or on snacks can help reduce the pressure building up.
Toys, Toys and more toys. Though electronic gadgets can be a great distractions it’s worth having something if the battery runs out and having a variety of things to entertain anyway, headphones can be useful for tablets but some won’t want to wear them anyway.
See my suggestion list for toys my boy loved while flying. Small cars can be great too. I wouldn’t take toys that couldn’t be easily replaced as we found they could fall on the floor and get lost under seats easily.
