If you love creating characters but aren’t great at drawing, ideogram AI can be a real game changer. It lets you whip up unique character art fast, even if you don’t have any art skills. Just toss in a few ideas or descriptions and, like magic, you get images you can use however you want.

Getting Started With Ideogram AI Character Art

Setting Up Your First Project

If you use Ideogram directly on their platform it is easy to get started, on Koala.ai you need to go to the image generator. Ideogram is more limited on Koala.ai but it is included in the pro version of Koala.ai.

From directly within Ideogram.ai you can upload reference images or just pick from presets if you’re not sure what you want yet. This helps the AI get what you’re aiming for. Then you just hit “start” and wait a bit while it cooks up your first draft. It’s very easy!

Editing within ideogram

Ideogram has some options to edit images after their creations. Just not on Koala.ai, you can’t edit the images afterwards.

Privacy of your designs

There are some differences between Koala.ai using Ideogram and using the platform directly. The free plan then the plan up from that on Ideogram, your images aren’t private, you need to pay for the pro plan which at present is $60USD a month.

This is something to seriously consider if you are an artist and want to protect your designs.

The images you create with a koala.ai account are all private even on the cheapest plan which starts at $7 USD at present per month.

Techniques For Creating Unique Character Art

I usually start by just playing around with ideas. With ideogram AI, I can mix styles or swap out details in seconds, which makes exploring creative options way less intimidating. If I’m making a fantasy warrior, for example, I’ll try out different armor or facial features and see what sticks.

Artistic expression is about letting your own style show, so I always add personal touches, like your preferred styles and colors.

Generating Stunning Visuals And Unique Art

When it comes to visuals, I try to make characters crisp, colorful, and interesting. I’ll mess with light, color, and detail until the art pops.

I also like to mix and match different AI outputs, pulling the best bits from each. This way, the final art feels unique and polished. The AI backs me up, turning rough ideas into visuals that actually look professional and, honestly, a bit exciting.

Just to see how ChatGPT differs, I did the same prompt with Ideagram and ChatGPT. Both on general option for image style and enhanced prompt within Koala.ai

As you can see different models can really vary, and you’ll need to experiment to get the style and look you want. I am still learning more about creating AI images, especially when it comes to image styles!
